4 Easy Bike Maintenance Tips

Riding a bicycle is a great way to get around town and its good for the environment since you aren’t using anything that requires fuel. However, just like cars, bicycles need some basic maintenance to ensure that it continues to ride smoothly. Plus, keeping your bicycle well maintained makes it safer to ride, as well. Here are four easy maintenance tips to keep in mind. 1. Lubricate the Chain: The chain is what makes your bicycle move. Without the chain, you wouldn’t get anywhere no matter how hard you pedal. Over time, the chain can gather a great deal of dirt, which can cause it to get stuck while you are riding your bike. This can cause you to come to a sudden stop and make it difficult to pedal, especially when going up hills. This is why you need to be sure that you lubricate the chain to ensure that the dirt can be removed and it will operate smoothly. You should do this at least once a month or more if you ride your bike in dirty conditions.  2. Inspect the Brakes: The brake pads should be inspected at least once a month. If the pads are really worn down, it is going to prevent you from coming to a sudden stop should you need to. This can cause you to become seriously injured. If you notice that brake pads are low, you should take your ride to a bike repair shop so that they can be replaced.  3. Check Tire Pressure: When the tire pressure of either of the tires on your bicycle are low, this can make it difficult to ride your bike, especially when going uphill. Plus, this can cause your tire to suddenly go flat, as well because of the wear that is being caused while riding it. If the tire pressure is low, you can go to your local gas station, which has air refills for you to use, or you can...
